Overview

Muktinath tour offers an opportunity to gain a combined experience of culture, religion and natural pleasure. Muktinath tour commences from Kathmandu giving you an opportunity to experience the rich culture, beautiful arts and crafts of the Kathmandu Valley taking you to the lakeside city of Pokhara which offers close view of the snowcapped mountains. Finally the trek ends at the Muktinath Temple, the second sacred temple of Nepal after Pashupatinath. The temple of Muktinath is believed to hold a legendary significance of spiritualism among the Hindu people of the Indian sub continents. Mukti refers to salvation or Nirvana whereas Nath stands for god or the master. So, it is believed that one gets salvation in the cycle of birth and rebirth by visiting the Muktinath temple.The Shaligrams (Ammonite/pebbles) found in the vicinity of Muktinath are believed to be the incarnation of lord Vishnu.

The pagoda styled Muktinath temple has a symbiotic relationship between the Hindus and the Buddhists. There are 108 water spouts with continuously running water. One hundred and eight is considered the auspicious number for all Hindus and Buddhists. All these 108 spouts represent various deities. Muktinath Tour also offers you an opportunity to visit Dhola Mebar Gompa with eternal burning natural flames. You can also view the magnificent Annapurna range to the South and the Tibetan plateu to the North on your tour to Muktinath.

Itinerary

Day 1Arrival in Kathmandu

Arrive at Tribhuwan International Airport, Kathmandu, you will meet our representative and then you will be transferred to your hotel. After check into the hotel, our representative will explain briefly the program. After lunch in the hotel visit Swoyambunath stupa- oldest stupa situated on the hillock. Enjoy the bird eyes view of Kathmandu Valley and mountains. Then proceed to a typical Nepalese restaurant and witness live ethnic cultural show followed by dinner. Overnight in Kathmandu.

Day 2Kathmandu Sightseeing

After breakfast proceed for sightseeing of Kathmandu Valley covering Kathmandu Durbar Square – Palace of Malla and then Shah King of Nepal. Visit Kumari Ghar (living goddess), Kasthamandap (made up of a single tree), Hanuman Dhoka (Gate to enter the palace) and many more temples. Budanilkantha Temple- sleeping Vishnu. Bouddhanath Stupa – one of the biggest stupas in the world. Lunch will be arranged in Baudha area. Evening visit Pasupathinath Temple – biggest and holiest Hindu temple in the bank of Bagmati River. Witness cremation. Dinner in restaurant and overnight.

Day 3Kathmandu to Pokhara by drive

After breakfast drive towards Pokhara – enjoy the scenic view along Trishuli river. En route stop for tea break. On arrival check into Hotel followed by a welcome drink. After lunch in the hotel enjoy an hours’ boat ride on Fewa Lake and visit Taal Barahi Temple. Return to hotel. Dinner and overnight at hotel.

Day 4Pokhara-Jomsom by flight and Jomsom-Muktinath-Jomsom by local jeep

After breakfast drive towards Pokhara Airport and fly to Jomsom. On arrival check into the hotel. Walk for 15 minutes to catch a jeep to Muktinath. After approx 1.5 hrs drive reach Muktinath. Visit Muktinath Temple, Jwala Mai and Monasteries. Lunch will be arranged at restaurant in Muktinath. Drive back to Jomsom. Dinner and overnight at hotel.

Day 5Jomsom-Pokhara by flight and Pokhara sightseeing

After breakfast fly back to Pokhara. Upon arrival transfer to hotel and rest. After lunch visit Bindabasini temple, Seti Gorge, Devi’s Fall and Gupteshwor Cave. Evening is free for personal activities, shopping etc. Have dinner and overnight in hotel.

Day 6Pokhara-Kathmandu by drive via Manakamana

After breakfast drive back to Kathmandu. En route visit Manakamana Temple by cable car. Have lunch at Manakamana Cafe and then proceed to Kathmandu. En route stop for the tea break. Finally reach Kathmandu and check into Hotel. Have dinner and overnight in hotel.

Day 7Kathmandu sightseeing

After breakfast proceeds to Patan Durbar Square – major attractions are old palace complex, old temples, old Buddhist temple, Krishna temple built by stone with 21 beautiful pinnacles, old drinking taps complex and Golden temple. After then proceed to Bhaktapur Durbar Square- major attractions are 55 window’s Palace, masterpiece stone sculptors, Nyatapola temple, Dattarya Temple, wood crafts. Lunch at the local restaurant and then proceed to Statue of Shiva – tallest statue of Shiva. Dinner in the restaurant and overnight at hotel

After breakfast, rest of the time is at leisure until we pick you up at the hotel and then transfer to airport for your next stop.

Throughout your tour of Muktinath, we are committed to ensuring your stay is both comfortable and enjoyable. In Kathmandu, you will be accommodated at Hotel Encounter Nepal or a similar category hotel. As your tour commences, your accommodation will be in standard hotels and lodges, each offering twin-sharing rooms with attached bathrooms and convenient hot shower amenities. If you desire a single-supplement room, it is available for an additional charge. Booking a room in advance affords you better options to select the room or hotel that best suits your preferences. All hotels in this tour region have ensuite bathrooms and toilet facilities.

Meals

During the Muktinath tour, you will be served a  three-course meal. At the Hotels where we spend an overnight during the tour, you will be served balanced and nourishing breakfasts and dinners. For Lunch, we will stop at one of the hotels along the way to our next destination. Black Diamond will also arrange a special Welcome dinner for our guests. This will be accompanied by a captivating cultural performance, providing you with a memorable and delightful experience. 

Best Time to Travel?

The best seasons for the tour to Muktinath are March to May and September to December. During these seasons, you’ll encounter favorable weather conditions with moderate temperatures, clear skies, and captivating natural vistas. However, visits during other seasons have their advantages as well, such as fewer crowds and often lower prices compared to peak seasons.
