Annapurna Circle Trekking is one of the high demanding trekking routes in Nepal. Itinerary

Day 1Arrive in Kathmandu

Upon arrival in the Kathmandu Airport (TIA), you will be welcomed and greeted by our representative and then transfer to the hotel. After check in, you can either take rest; hang around in the city as it all depends upon your interests.

Day 2Kathmandu to Bhulbule

Today, our trek begins with a scenic drive from Kathmandu, heading westward along the Prithvi Highway. This route takes you through rural Nepal, where views of terraced fields, traditional villages, and lush hillsides. The trail follows the Marsyangdi River as it winds toward the Annapurna region. Passing through towns like Besisahar, the starting point for many Annapurna treks, trekkers eventually reach Bhulbule, a small village that marks the beginning of your trek. Overnight in Bhulbule.

Day 3Bhulbhule to Jagat

Today marks the first day on the trek, which takes you through picturesque villages, lush forests, and terraced fields. We will cross suspension bridges over deep gorges and pass through vibrant waterfalls. Along the way, you’ll encounter locals in their daily routines, offering a glimpse into rural Nepali life. After a steady climb, you’ll reach Jagat, a traditional stone village with narrow lanes and stone houses. Overnight in Jagat.

Day 4Jagat to Dharapani

Today, we will leave Jagat and ascend into the rugged Marsyangdi Valley, passing through dense rhododendrons and pine forests. After crossing a suspension bridge at Chamje, a steep climb brings you to Tal, a village set in a broad, flat valley marking the entrance to the Manang district. Then, trekkers continue trekking to Dharapani, where the Annapurna Circuit aligns with the Manaslu trail, merging trekkers from both routes. Also, Dharapani is marked as the end point of the Manaslu Trek.

Day 5Dharapani to Chame

Today’s trek takes you through forests, rivers, and small villages as the landscape becomes mountainous. After ascending, the trail offers beautiful views of mountain peaks like Lamjung Himal and Annapurna II. As you reach near Chame, the district headquarters of Manang, you can witness apple orchards and pine forests. Chame is a picturesque village filled with a blend of traditional wooden houses and modern amenities. It serves as an excellent location to stock supplies and witness the breathtaking views of Annapurna II.

Day 6Chame to Upper Pissang

We start our trek from Chame, following the trail as it ascends through lush pine and rhododendron forests. As you climb, the landscape gradually changes, offering expansive views of the Annapurna range. The path winds through charming villages and terraced fields before reaching Upper Pisang. This traditional village, with its Tibetan-style houses and serene monastery, offers spectacular panoramic views of Annapurna II and Pisang Peak. Overnight in Upper Pissang.

Day 7Upper Pisang to Manang

Today, we will start our trek early after breakfast. Trekkers can witness the stunning sunrise view of Lamjung Himal (6,893m) along the way. As we reach Brathang Village, a beautiful waterfall comes into view. The trek offers breathtaking panoramas of Pisang’s northeast peak and Annapurna II. Before entering Pisang, we will cross a Mani wall near the bridges, adding a spiritual element to our journey.

Day 8Manang to Yak Kharka

Today, the trail ascends gradually through a diverse landscape, starting with alpine meadows and rocky terrain. As you leave Manang, you’ll pass through the village of Leder, known for its traditional Tibetan architecture and stunning views. We will continue climbing through a barren, high-altitude landscape, with panoramic vistas of Annapurna III and Gangapurna, and reach Yak Kharka. It is situated at a higher altitude and offers a serene setting with expansive views of the surrounding peaks and grazing yaks. Overnight in Yak Kharka.

Day 9Yak Kharka to Thorong Phedi

We make our way to the foot of the pass, Throng Phedi today. Thorong Phedi is a small busy settlement catering to the needs of tired trekkers and climbers. People use this point as a base camp. Some people also attempt a hike to the High Camp today so that the next day can be easier for them but we do not recommend attempting High Camp and overnight there because sleeping in higher altitude is not really advisable. Although we will have a tough day tomorrow, we stop at Thorong Phedi so that we can sleep sound rather than a risky sleep in higher altitude at High Camp. Overnight at Thorong Phedi.

Day 10Thorang Phedi to Mustang via Thorang la Pass

Today we will start early from Thorong Phedi to tackle the challenging ascent to Thorong La Pass. At the summit, we will enjoy the breathtaking panoramic views of the Himalayas, including the Dhaulagiri and Annapurna ranges. After celebrating at the top, descend through blooming landscapes to Muktinath, a sacred site for both Buddhists and Hindus. We will continue our hike to Mustang, taking in the scenic beauty of the Kali Gandaki Valley along the way.

Day 11 Muktinath to Tatopani

After crossing Thorong La, trekkers will drive through the Kali Gandaki Valley for a well-deserved break. Enjoy stunning views of Dhaulagiri and Nilgiri mountains as you pass Jomsom and continue to Tatopani, known for its natural hot springs. Trekkers can soak in the thermal waters, relax their tired muscles, and rejuvenate amidst lush vegetation and the flowing Kali Gandaki River. Overnight in Tatopani.

Day 12Tatopani to Ghorepani

While we walk we observe the lifestyle of the people in the midland villages of Nepal. Ghara and Sikha are the villages with terraced and inclined farmlands. We gradually walk steep up to ascent Ghorepani. Passing through the Phalate and Chitre, we walking through a non-habitat area through rhododendron, brich, magnolia and some meadows. As we reach the height the peaks ahead look wonderful. We stay at Ghorepani as we have to climb to reach Poon Hill early tomorrow morning. Overnight in Ghorepani.

Day 13 Ghorepani to Poonhill

Trekkers will wake up early today for a pre-dawn hike to Poon Hill (famous viewpoints on the Annapurna region). As we hike, we will get rewarded with the most beautiful sunrise. As the sun rises, the peaks of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges are soaked in golden light, creating a truly magical scene. The trek then descends through lush forests, passing small villages and terraced fields, leading to the charming village of Tikhedhunga.

Day 14Tikhedhunga to Nayapul, then drive to Pokhara

On your final trekking day, you’ll descend to Nayapul, the endpoint of the Annapurna Circuit. The trail winds through terraced fields and small villages, offering one last glimpse of the region’s beauty. Upon reaching Nayapul, a vehicle will transfer you to Pokhara. You can spend the evening exploring the lakeside or visiting local shops.

Day 15Pokhara to Kathmandu

After breakfast, we start our drive back to Kathmandu. Better to hold on the left pane of the vehicle to enjoy the sceneries through the route. Upon arrival in Kathmandu, we get transferred to our hotel; and we spend the afternoon leisurely, perhaps catch up on some last minute shopping and in the evening celebrate dinner together with Black Diamond staffs. Overnight in Kathmandu.

Day 16Departure Day

You are saying good bye to the mountains as your journey in Nepal comes to an end today! We take you to the airport for your flight time. We hope you enjoyed the trek, and are sure you’ll be back trekking somewhere in the Himalaya again. Approximately 3 hours before your scheduled flight a representative from Black Diamond  will take you to the airport. On your way home you’ll have plenty of time to plan for your next adventerous trip in the wonderful country of world i.e Nepal.

Accomodation

During your adventurous journey to Annapurna Circle Trekking, Black Diamond will ensure you have a comfortable and enjoyable stay. In Kathmandu, you will be accommodated in Hotel Encounter Nepal or a similar category of accommodation. As you commence your hike, you will be staying in standard teahouses/lodges.  Most teahouses or lodges serve rooms on a twin-sharing basis with an attached bathroom and hot shower facilities. Single-supplement rooms are served with an extra charge of USD 495. You may have to share a bathroom and toilets in the teahouses in this trekking region in both lower and higher elevations. Despite that, we will always make sure to book you the best possible accommodation at Annapurna Circle Trekking.

 

Meals

Your meal plan in Kathmandu includes only breakfast while a three-course meal will be served during the trekking. The tea house where we spend an overnight will serve us a balanced diet for breakfast and dinner whereas lunch is taken at one of the tea houses on the way to our next destination. Black Diamonds has also prepared a special Welcome and Farewell dinner for the guests following a cultural performance.

Best time to trek Annapurna Circle Trek

The best time to hike the Annapurna Circuit Trek is Autumn (September to November) and Spring (March to May).  These seasons offer the most favorable weather and trekking conditions with moderate temperatures, clear skies, and mesmerizing natural scenery.  During October, you will also have a chance to experience the major festivals of Nepalese people, Dashain and Tihar. During both seasons, the trails are easily navigable, and the teahouses along the route are fully operational.

How hard is it to do Annapurna CircleTrek?

Annapurna Circle trek difficulty level is fairly demanding due to its long duration trek at an high altitude and unpredictable trail conditions. Despite the challenges, the trek can be completed with proper preparation and determination as it does not require any technical mountaineering expertise. It is also important to follow appropriate safety measures while doing the trek. We also can make arrangements for the porters to do heavy lifting for you. What is the best time to trek to Annapurna Circle?

The months during fall(September-October-November) and spring (March-April-May) are considered as the best time for Annapurna Circle trek. In this season the temperature is moderate with clear sky and the dry trails, which gives us ample opportunity to admire the majestic view of mountain ranges with perfect trekking conditions. During the months of winter (December-February) the temperature is extremely cold with heavy snowfall and during the months of monsoon (June-August) there is heavy rainfall and the trail is slippery with leeches on the way. During the winter and monsoon you should take extra precautions as the unfavorable condition makes it difficult to trek. If you like to trek when there are few tourists, winter and monsoon are the best times and you can get an extra discount on top.
